Built for the game, not the boardroom
This is not a presentation pointer that happens to entertain the cat. It is a red laser made for pet play and priced accordingly at £13.99. Aim the dot at the floor a short distance from your pet, move it in short darts and pauses rather than smooth sweeps, and most cats will lock on immediately.
Why red is the right colour
Red is the only beam colour we recommend for animals. Our green pointers are considerably brighter, which is exactly what you want when you are pointing at a projection screen and exactly what you do not want when the target is a few feet from an animal’s face. If you have been using a green pointer with your cat, this is the model to switch to.
Keep it to five minutes
Please do not use this product for more than five minutes at a time. Cats in particular will keep chasing well past the point of sensible exercise, so the limit is on you rather than on them. It is also worth finishing each session by landing the dot on a physical toy or a treat, so the hunt ends with something your cat can actually catch rather than with the light simply disappearing.
Simple to live with
It runs on AAA batteries, which are included, and it is small enough to keep on a shelf by the sofa where you will actually reach for it. There is nothing to charge and nothing to set up, which matters more than it sounds: a pet toy that lives in a drawer and needs preparation is a pet toy that never gets used. Replacement batteries cost pence from any supermarket.
An easy gift
At £13.99 this is the least expensive product we stock, which makes it an obvious small gift for a cat owner, a stocking filler, or the thing you add to an order to round it out. It ships free like everything else on the site.
