Red is the practical choice for indoor use, and the only colour we suggest if a cat or a dog is going to be chasing the dot. At 650nm it is the most established laser wavelength, which keeps the price down: the red range starts at £13.99.
Five red models are in stock, from the dedicated pets pointer to a red line laser, with five-cap and on/off switch versions in between. All of them arrive with two AAA batteries in the box, and delivery anywhere in the UK is free.

Which red laser pointer should you choose?
The red laser pointer for pets at £13.99 is our cheapest product and the one to buy if a cat or a dog is the reason you are here. The standard Emax red laser pointer at £17.99 does the same job in an aluminium body and doubles as a presenting tool. For meetings that overrun, the on/off switch version at £24.99 latches on rather than making you hold a button. The five-cap model at £24.99 projects patterns, and the red line laser at £24.99 draws a stripe instead of a dot.
A red laser pen for presentations, green for astronomy
Indoors a red laser pen does everything a meeting room or a classroom asks of it, at a lower price than the equivalent green model, and our guide to laser pointers for presentations and teaching goes through the differences. Astronomy is the exception. The eye registers 532nm green far more readily than 650nm red, so a beam you can follow against the night sky means reaching for a green laser pointer instead.

Other colours, and the rules in the UK
Green at 532nm is the one to pick for daylight, outdoor use and longer distances: see the green laser pointers. Violet at 405nm is the rarest beam colour we stock: see the purple laser pointers.
