Green is the colour to buy when you want a beam that people can actually see. The eye responds more strongly to 532nm green than to any other laser colour, which is why a green laser pointer is the usual choice for astronomy, outdoor work and large rooms.
Four green models are in stock, from £19.99: the standard pointer, a five-cap version that projects patterns, a model with a latching on/off switch, and a line laser that draws a stripe instead of a dot. Every one of them runs on two AAA batteries that come in the box, and delivery anywhere in the UK is free.

Which green laser pointer is right for you?
The standard Emax green laser pointer at £19.99 is the one most people are after: a 532nm beam with a quoted range of 4,000 to 4,500 metres, batteries supplied. The five-cap version at £24.99 swaps the plain dot for twenty projected patterns and arrives in a storage case. The on/off switch model at £24.99 latches on with one press instead of asking you to hold a button. And the green line laser at £24.99 draws a straight line rather than a point, growing longer as you step back.
A green laser pen for stargazing, or for presenting?
Stargazing is the job green is best at, because the beam itself has to be visible against a night sky. The standard pointer is the model to take outside; our guide on using a green laser pointer for stargazing covers how to get the most out of it. For presentations and teaching the question is how long the beam stays on: the standard pen is fine for occasional pointing, while the on/off switch model suits sessions that run for an hour. There is more on that in choosing a laser pointer for presentations and teaching.

Other colours, and the rules in the UK
Red at 650nm is the cheaper option for indoor work and the only colour we suggest around pets: see the red laser pointers. Violet at 405nm is bought for the colour of the beam itself: see the purple laser pointers. For the background on what applies here, read are laser pointers legal in the UK?
